The full survey was completed at the beginning of February 2011. Of the 154 rights of way in Biddulph I can report that the majority are in a fairly reasonable state of repair, although I am disappointed to find that eight paths are obstructed and a quantity of eighteen paths contain broken stiles or other hardware. Waymarking of the paths is in need of attention in many areas and there is a total of 32 fingerposts required to mark the starts or finishes of the paths where they exit from roads. This situation has of course been highlighted in a communication to Staffordshire County Council with a request that they give the situation a degree of priority.

Hello
I walked through Biddulph in October 2010 and finding a few problems in Staffordshire reported them to the County Council. I am most grateful to your site for supply path numbers a service that appears to be unavailable from the Council.
On 22/10/2010 I reported at SJ 90430 59130 no sign where path leaves the track and SJ 90453 59085 no bridge / board for cross in the stream. I now discover from your site these are on path 77.
I have received the following information from SCC "The path has been inspected and a job sheet has been issued for two new finger posts, path clearance work and the installation of a new 12ft sleeper bridge."
I hope you find this information useful for your survey update.

Ken, Thank you very much for taking the time to forward your comments. One of the primary aims of this forum is to let the public know the path numbers, since I believe that if there is a lot of work to do in discovering this information then people will not bother reporting path issues. The success that you have had by reporting these problems can serve as an encouragement to those "pessimists" out there who insist upon simply rolling out the old saying that in these times of financial hardship the Highways Authority will simply ignore any work required on our footpaths. We all know that a lot of work is necessary on our roads but this should not be allowed to have a negative impact on the footpaths. I am pleased that you found the site to be of use.
